I’m Sophia, a dedicated practitioner of yoga and reiki, and an advocate for holistic wellness. My journey to this fulfilling path has been anything but conventional, yet it’s one I’m incredibly proud of. With a double degree in Global Business and Marketing Management, my career began in the bustling heart of London. I swiftly climbed the corporate ladder, carving out a successful niche in sales. Materially, I thrived. Yet, despite my achievements, my soul felt increasingly impoverished. The corporate world, with its relentless pace and often toxic dynamics, left me feeling disconnected and unfulfilled. Over the past decade, I navigated through various corporate landscapes in cities like London, Madrid, and Dubai, just to mention a few. I met a spectrum of individuals who influenced my personal and professional growth—some positively, others not so much. But the constant was an ever-growing sense of depletion and a lack of purpose. Each morning, getting out of bed felt like a monumental task, particularly during my last stint in Dubai, where my mental and physical health hit an all-time low. That was my breaking point. I decided enough was enough. I revisited the passions that once brought me joy and vitality—yoga and holistic wellness. Six years prior, I had already sensed that the corporate arena wasn’t where I belonged. My straightforward nature and intolerance for incompetence and unfairness made it a tough fit. Yet, the allure of stability and the fear of leaving my comfort zone kept me tethered. Looking back, I don’t regret a thing. Every challenge and triumph taught me invaluable lessons and steered me towards my authentic self. After an enlightening six months in Bali, immersed in intensive training in yoga, reiki, and holistic health, I emerged transformed and equipped with a profound understanding of well-being. Today, I’m here to share that journey with you. My corporate background has given me unique insights into the pressures and challenges many face, along with many other invaluable skills. I've always been driven by empathy and compassion, feeling a deep connection to helping others. My experiences in Bali revealed to me that this is where I truly belong. I feel privileged to guide others and illuminate the way towards mental clarity, physical vitality, and holistic well-being. My personal journey with yoga began in my teen years, a time when life felt like a storm I couldn't weather. Yoga found me then, offering solace and sanctuary when the world outside my mat seemed chaotic and overwhelming. Stepping onto the mat became my refuge, a place where the noise of the world faded and I found peace within. Naturally, like many, I was initially drawn to yoga by the allure of mastering challenging poses. The physicality of it was exhilarating, pushing the boundaries of my body and discovering new depths of strength and flexibility. (The first pose I ever attempted was the Scorpion Pose - look it up for a good laugh!) But it wasn't until a wise teacher in Bali shared a profound insight with me that I truly understood the essence of yoga. ""Yoga is not about the poses you can do,"" he said, ""It's about doing the poses that heal your physical body, so when you're sitting in meditation, your body is at ease and your mind can find stillness and peace."" Suddenly, yoga took on a whole new meaning, transcending the physical to become a journey of self-discovery and inner healing. And now, I invite you to join me on this transformative journey. Whether you're an experienced yogi, a curious beginner, or someone who's never stepped on a mat before, there's a place for you here. Reiki, a practice rooted in ancient wisdom, offers a unique journey of healing and self-discovery. Originating from Japan, it's like a soothing balm for the soul, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and enhancing overall well-being. At its core, Reiki harnesses the universal life force energy that flows through all living things. Developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, Reiki practitioners believe that by channeling this energy, they can facilitate healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. It's a gentle yet powerful technique that helps restore balance and harmony within the body, promoting a sense of peace and well-being. But let me tell you about my journey with Reiki, and how it found its way into my life in the most unexpected of ways. Picture this: I'm in Bali, surrounded by the lush beauty of nature, and experiencing my first psychedelic trip. It's a moment of pure exploration, as I delve into the depths of my inner world with a sense of curiosity and compassion. During this transformative experience, something remarkable happens. As I move my hands over different parts of my body, a wave of calm washes over me, as if I've tapped into a hidden wellspring of energy. Turns out, what I was doing was Reiki - a practice I'd only heard of but never really paid attention to or understood. Intrigued, I decided to dig deeper, eager to unravel the mysteries of this ancient healing art. With the guidance of a trusted Reiki practitioner, a beautiful lady with over 30 years of experience and a lineage tracing back to Japan, I embarked on a journey of discovery, navigating the intricacies of energy healing with a healthy dose of skepticism and curiosity. Each hour was like peeling back the layers of an onion, revealing hidden truths about myself and the world around me. Through Reiki, I discovered the power of healing, both for myself and others. It wasn't just about physical well-being; it was about finding peace amidst the chaos, and restoring balance to body, mind, and spirit. Today, I'm honored to share this gift with others, offering a beacon of hope and healing in a world that might often feel uncertain and chaotic. Reiki, for me, is more than just a practice - it's a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and transformation. And as I continue on this path, I'm reminded of the words of my teacher shortly after I did my first ever Reiki practice: ""Sophia, you were definitely born to do this. Congratulations."" It's a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected journeys lead us to exactly where we're meant to be.
